KBS Music Bank is the best place to take a nap!

Oh wait. This isn’t Trip Advisor.

It was raining pretty hard the entire day on 12 July so we’re glad that our itinerary consisted of indoor activities. After our brief stint at the Lee Soon Shin set, we moved to KBS Hall for the live broadcast of KBS Music Bank. We got there a lil’ bit too early for the 4:50pm call time so we lingered outside KBS Hall with the other fans. Thankfully, the waiting area has a roof overhead so we’re all protected from the rain.

I shudder at the thought of doing this at SBS Inkigayo where fans have to wait outdoors, with nothing to protect them from the elements. :nailbite:

You’re the best, Son Tae Young.

I mentioned in my entry about our visit to the set of A Tale of Two Sisters that there was some sort of confusion when we thought that we’re visiting the filming of You’re The Best, Lee Soon Shin. Sookyoung 이모 knows that we want to go there, too, so she arranged another studio visit for us (thank you so much, 이모  ). Unfortunately, the schedule was on Friday (12 July) and we already had tickets to KBS Music Bank on the same day. It takes a lot, and I mean A LOT of effort to get those tickets, so foregoing it is definitely not an option. Filming usually starts at 2:30pm, so the deal was that we were to meet at KBS Annex at 2:20pm for Lee Soon Shin taping, then proceed to KBS Hall for Music Bank at about 4:30.

Unfortunately, there were delays in the filming schedule and it eventually started at 4:00pm. We only had about 30 minutes to observe the shooting and possibly meet some of the cast before we absolutely have to be at KBS MuBank at 4:50. Also, we were told that IU and Yoo In Na were not scheduled to film that day  but Jo Jung Suk and Son Tae Young will be there.

A moment with a former celebrity soldier. (No, not that one.)

Korea, official Day 1, part 2. Part 1 is here.

KBSAnnex

Since the morning activities for this day started and ended early – actually, wayyyy too early, as in at least 30 minutes earlier than expected – Sookyoung 이모 scheduled us to a studio visit at KBS. It’s supposed to be for the weekend drama You’re The Best, Lee Soon Shin, but when we got there, 이모 said that there was a bit of a confusion. The one filming that day is the daily drama, A Tale of Two Sisters aka. Sincerity Is the Way Of Heaven (I will refer to it as A Tale of Two Sisters from now on as this is the title being used by KBS World). Personally, I would’ve wanted to visit Lee Soon Shin‘s set because (1) I already researched on the cast before I left for Korea, so I’m confident that I won’t have any “Kang Joon Sang’s mom” moments; and (2) I wanted to meet IU and Yoo In Na. But I did not mind the confusion at all. For one thing, the first person I saw when we entered the filming set was the super-handsome Yoo Gun, and I’m already completely satisfied at that. :hihihi: (Trust me, photos and video don’t do justice to his good looks. He’s so much more handsome in person.) I actually don’t know who he is at the time – or so I thought – but he’s just so pleasant to the eyes so I’m more than fine with it.

It’s a very showbiz day.

Voltes In Korea 2012, Day 1

For the past two years that me and my Voltes friends have gone to Korea, we’ve never been ‘zero’ on the celebrity sighting. This edition of Voltes in Korea is no exception. In fact, we’ve already exceeded the quota right on the first day.

We decided to try something new on this trip. Instead of staying at a hostel or hotel, we booked a homestay through airbnb.com. In this scheme, private apartment owners rent out their own homes to short- or long-term travelers. We later on learned from our host that homestay is the current thrust of the Korea Tourism Organization. Anyway, we particularly chose this place that we’re staying in now for one major reason: her ad copy at airbnb says that she can help book her guests to Korean music shows. The location might not be ideal for newbies in Seoul, though, because it’s nowhere near the usual tourist places, but if you wanna go Gangnam Style, this place is highly recommended.

Our host had difficulty booking KBS Music Bank tickets for all of us because we’re too many in the group (incidentally, I’ve read somewhere that among the music shows, KBS MuBank is the most difficult to gain access to if one is not a member of a local official fan club). She only managed to score four tickets (we are six in the group for Day 1; Pre’ will be joining us on Day 2). However, to make up for it, she managed to pull some strings and was able to give us all of us access to the rehearsals and pre-show recording. :cheer: That’s not bad, right?

So on Friday, October 12, 2012, with little to no sleep at all since we arrived in Korea at 6am that same morning, and no decent meals for the entire day aside from bagels, jam, apples and brewed coffee, we spent practically the entire day being holed up inside the KBS Music Bank studios.
