Look who’s back.

Yup, it’s RAIN, ladies and gents.

I have just finished watching his comeback stage at KBS Music Bank and I must say, it seems this album is an improvement – by a mile – from his last album. Though I’m not too fond of Gang because the genre isn’t my cup of tea, but the other two songs that he performed (Sunshine and Again) reminds me of vintage Rain circa I Do and Love Story. His voice is still the same haunting voice that was one of the reasons why I became his fan. As for the dancing, nice to know that despite his earlier claim that he can’t dance anymore, he proved himself wrong and showed that he still has the chops to do it. (Side note: I get amused whenever I see comments to this effect: “For his age, Rain can still dance like that.” Ahm, isn’t he just 35? :ehh: )

Lastly, it’s nice to see him looking fresh and happy again, something that I haven’t seen on him for the longest time. (If anyone gets offended by that statement, please check again which blog are you on right now.) I guess being a family man agrees with him, ‘no? It’s his lifelong dream to have a daughter, after all.

KBS Kpop’s YouTube Channel has disabled embedding for the videos, but here are the links in case anyone hasn’t seen it yet:

뮤직뱅크 Music Bank – INTRO + 깡 – 비 (INTRO + GANG)

뮤직뱅크 Music Bank – SUNSHINE – 비 (SUNSHINE)

뮤직뱅크 Music Bank – 다시 – 비 (Again – RAIN)

And here’s the official MV for ‘Gang’:

I haven’t listened to the full album yet, so I can’t comment on it. I’ll update this entry – or write a new one – once I get the chance to do so.

Yep. Rain IS coming.

Pigs are flying.

It’s confirmed. Rain is, indeed, coming back to Manila. :whee!:

Just to summarize and recap:

– The title of the show is Rise2Shine.
– The concert is on November 3, 2017.
– Ticket selling will start on September 29, 2017.
– Ticket prices are not announced yet (in case anyone will ask  )
– It’s a benefit concert.
– Rain is just the main act. It’s going to be an all-star show, with special surprise guests.
– The other artists joining the concert are not announced yet.

Are you guys ready? Start iponing now, we still have time.

Here’s the part where I will insert my personal blabber on this latest development.

1. November 3? THAT’S MY MOM’S BIRTHDAY. We’ve already planned an out-of-town trip for that. I’m going to have to find a way to be at both events. Anyone here who knows where I can learn to Apparate in 1.5 months?

2. So Rain will not be the only artist on this show. There will be other artists and he’s just a main act. Anyone else getting “INTENSITY featuring RAIN & U-KISS with Special Guest Christian Bautista” feels right now?

3. And while we’re on that subject, I guess we should also stop referring to this event as a ‘concert’. Flashback to 2010, when we were given an impromptu lesson on how Koreans label an event. If the artist is onstage for less than two hours, it’s not a ‘concert’ but a ‘SHOW’. Rain will probably do a one-hour set at the most, so it’s not a concert. Not his, anyway. It’s a show, featuring him and other artists.

4. Having said that, I will be wary of any press conferences that he will have here, especially if said press conference will not include the other artists on the show’s roster. Just sayin’.

5. To whoever is producing this show:

I highly recommend that you seek some pointers from the promoters of Intensity. Assuming it’s a different group, that is.

Rain is coming?

Can someone please check if pigs have sprouted wings again? Because last night, this was posted at Araneta Coliseum’s official Facebook page:

Yup, Rain is coming to Manila. Again.

I’ve been throwback-reading all the posts from 11 Days of September 2010, so when this came out, I was like… “can we still do this?” OK, more like, “am I still willing to do this again?” :hihihi: You really can’t blame me for asking if you know what happened seven years ago.

But one thing is for sure: I’m still going to watch.

[UPDATE]

Well, not really an update. Just more rambling.

We’ve been busy the entire day. I’ve asked a question this morning: do we still want to do this? The answer is, apparently, YES. The old CloudPH admins chatroom – aka. the Voltes Team group chat – was buzzing non-stop the whole day as we were brainstorming and trying to find whatever information we can from our various contacts. It sounded incredibly familiar. It’s very… September 2010. Please don’t tell me we’re going to be losing sleep over this again?

We still don’t have any definite details yet aside from the venue. But I received word that this concert is definitely happening before the year 2017 ends. Let’s wait and see.

I do know that my pocket is ready for this. I actually was saving up for Bruno Mars, but I failed to get tickets on both of his concert dates. Apparently, there is a reason for that and the reason is Rain. :hihihi: I’m more than willing to shell out good money for this. It’s Rain, after all. The last time I saw him live was 7 years ago here in Manila, and it was awesome. There’s no way I’m gonna miss this even if I haven’t exactly been a fan of the guy for the past… yes. Seven years. I mean, c’mon. I shelled out good money for Nam Joo Hyuk tickets even if I haven’t seen any of his projects. Why can’t I do that for my No. 1 Korean idol?

I have no plans of welcoming him at the airport or doing a hotel stake-out, but I’m not ruling out the possibility. I just hope that the next time I chance upon him at his hotel, there’ll be no pillars around to disappear at.

Before I end this blog entry, I’d like to share this paragraph that I posted as a parting shot to my retrospect of 11 Days in September 2010 on this blog:

26. Hugs.

The one thing I will never forget about this whole thing are the tight hugs I exchanged with both longtime and new CloudPH members after the presscon and the concert. We can never say this enough: it was once an impossible dream, and it happened. And we were together in witnessing it happening. Will it happen again? Let’s wait together for another pig to fly, shall we?

I’ll be on the lookout for flying pigs starting tomorrow.

Look who’s back.

I’ve been out of the loop with everything Korean for the past year and a half, but this is the one thing that I’ve been looking forward to ever since Rain started hyping about it.

Those flawless dance moves. That haunting voice. And that cute surprise at the end. This is Vintage Rain, the Rain that most of us loved. He’s back, bitches. The fact that the song is produced by Psy is an added bonus.

It’s just sad that this is just a single and is not even a part of a mini-album. I wanna hear more!

Welcome back, Jung Ji Hoon.
