This entry is being made through the generosity of my sister’s office.
I am so bored out of my wits. Yesterday, Metro Manila and surrounding provinces were hit by Super Typhoon “Milenyo” and devastated the entire area where it hit. Our province is no exception. School and government agencies were thankfully suspended early, so we were spared of the agony of being stuck in the middle of nowhere while there’s a typhoon (too bad for those working in the private sector, though). However, while there is no flood this time, we still had no choice but to stay indoors, or else be greeted by a flying roof or a falling tree or electric post in the middle of the street. Power was out since morning, and as I’m typing this, our area still has no power as the electric post beside our house exploded when it got hit by a flying tree branch yesterday morning. (Which is why I am stealing some computer time in my sister’s office now. :glee:)
What made it worse for me is that, because of the power outage, I have:
1. No computer.
2. No TV.
3. No radio (no one anticipated that we have to stock up on batteries).
4. No cellphones (I had the misfortune of not charging my phone before the power went kaput).
5. No MP3 player (I forgot to unplug my player from my computer, so the battery got discharged. Thankfully, by some sort of miracle, my old MP3 player suddenly worked, so my sanity was kept at bay for at least 4 hours).
I tried catching up on sleep, but the thing is, I slept too much the entire day so when nighttime came, I was wide awake, with nothing to do but twiddle my thumbs in the middle of total darkness. Sigh.
Howell… at least that’s the only misfortune I got. Some people lost houses yesterday, some even lost lives. I should be thankful that I am still breathing and my house is still intact.
