Hot off the press once again: Rain is invited by ABC – yes, the MAJOR U.S. TELEVISION NETWORK – to guest on one of their shows. This spawned from his nomination – yes, just the nomination, not the inclusion – in Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People list.
Ah… doesn’t it feel great just sitting back, relaxing, and getting vindicated again and again from those hateful bashers who have nothing to do with their lives but be green with envy at this man? 0==(D) (Side note: they said us Bi’ers have too much time in our hands, that’s why Bi always tops them polls. Well, at least we’re doing something more productive than making hateful statements against other artists.)
They can list down their pioneers of Hallyu all they want, they can make thread topics in soompi saying it’s not meant to bash Rain, yet they ask obviously bashing poll questions like “Does Rain deserve to be called ‘influential’ or not?”, they can call him whatever they wanna call him, but the fact remains that this man is meant for bigger things. And those bigger things are coming in one by one. And he rightfully deserves them all.
Ah, I can almost see it coming now:
Big deal! He’s just invited, he hasn’t guested yet!
[Insert name of ‘pioneering’ Hallyu star here] has been making waves in Japan since blah blah blah… (in short, missing the point entirely)
[Insert name of K-pop artist who’s not Rain here] should be the one invited!!!
He’s not good in English, so he’ll just embarass himself in America by butchering the language.
He’s just gonna show the American audience how well he copied MJ/Usher/Timberlake.
So what??? He’s still not a good singer/dancer/performer/etc etc
He was invited because of his dramas, not his albums! (I still don’t get the point of this one.)
Who’s willing to bet that at least one of these statements would pop in the Korean music section any minute now?
